COURSE OBJECTIVE:

To enable workers to work confidently and competently in confined spaces.

To enable managers and supervisors to feel confident in the level of knowledge of the personnel entering and working in confined spaces.


TRAINING DESIGNED FOR TYPES OF POSITIONS:

This training program is aimed at all workers from labourers to engineers who are involved in confined spaces works.


COURSE REGISTRATION:

This training program is a nationally registered training program.
Units of competency for this training program will consist of  8 units compulsory units (in blue) with 2 units as electives for the course.

Quantum Training is VETAB registered to provide national qualifications from PMA08 Diploma of Process Plant Technology training package, including:

  • MSAPMOHS217A      Gas test Atmospheres
  • MSAPMOHS212A      Undertake First Response to Fire Incidents
  • MSAPMOHS216A    Operate Open Circuit Breathing Apparatus

Quantum Training is VETAB registered to provide national qualifications from MNM05 Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue training package, including:

  • PMAPER205B         Enter Confined Space
  • PUASAR005A         Undertake Confined Space Rescue
  • HLTCPR201A         Apply Basic First Aid
  • MNMG237A           Work Safely at Heights
    

Quantum Training is VETAB registered to provide national qualifications from PMC04 Diploma Manufactured Mineral Products training package, including:

  • PMAPER302B       Issue Work Permits (Hot Work) Confined Spaces
  • PMAPER201C       Monitor and Control Work Permits

Quantum Training is VETAB registered to provide national qualifications from RII Scope of units, including:
  • RIIRIS201A         Conduct Local Risk Control


EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF TRAINING:

At the completion of the retraining course candidates may have studied any of the following modules;

  • Legislative and other requirements, Gases, atmospheric and contaminating,
  • Gas Detectors, Breathing apparatus,
  • Specialist equipment (only your gas detectors, breathing apparatus and specialist equipment are taught in this course),
  • Roles personnel play in relation to confined spaces work,
  • Isolation, Rescue,
  • Fire Fighting, and First response first aid.

Each of these areas can be broken down even further but would relate to much reading.


METHODS OF DELIVERY:

The methods of delivery will include;

  • Face to face tutorials and discussion,
  • Audio visual,
  • Theoretical situation discussion.
  • Practical hands on with gas monitors and breathing apparatus, and
  • Practical exercises to round off each day.

In the four and five day courses this includes hands on Resuscitation and Fire Fighting.


WHAT LEARNING MATERIALS DO PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE:

All participants receive a full training manual covering the subjects treated in the training program.


WHAT OPPORTUNITIES DO PARTICIPANTS HAVE FOR PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF NEW SKILLS:

Mornings are spent in a classroom type situation and in the afternoon the group goes into the field and puts the theory into practice in their own workplaces doing set scenarios to evaluate performance.


WHAT FEEDBACK DO PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE:

At the completion of theory modules a questionnaire is completed to ensure participant understanding of the theory module.

Practical situations are debriefed at the completion of each exercise.


HOW IS TERMINAL BEHAVIOUR MEASURED:

Assessment criteria will be by;

  • Written questionnaire (where literacy skills are a problem this is carried out in a one on one informal question and answer situation),
  • Practical exercises,
  • Hands on using gas monitoring equipment breathing apparatus and other specialist equipment,
  • Group discussion, and
  • Other assessment methodology.

All of the above will be as required to determine participants terminal behaviour.


WHAT FOLLOW UP AND ONGOING SUPPORT IS PROVIDED:

All participants and their employers are provided with contacts within Quantum Training so that if a problem arises they can contact us for advice and/or guidance.


DURATION OF TRAINING COURSE:

The course is 3, 4 or 5 days duration. The 3 day course does not include first aid or fire fighting. The 4 and 5 day courses include First Aid and Fire Fighting.


FEE STRUCTURE:

Course costs are $1950.00 (GST not applicable) per day of the course. Preferred maximum number for the course is 12 participants. The above quoted fee is for a minimum of 10 candidates. All candidates above the minimum of 10 candidates will be charged at 10% of the current daily rate.

Prices are subject to change without notification.

Our standard fee of $150.00 per day for travel and accommodation apply to all courses. This fee is reduced to $100.00 where the client supplies power and water to connect to.

Extra costs billed to the client are for air cylinder refills and fire extinguisher recharging. Current cost for air fills is $15.00 each GST is applicable on this fee.
