Fighting
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
To enable personnel to understand the requirements for fire
to exist. To understand the requirements to extinguish a fire
and above to understand that fire may destroy a facility but
not the most valuable objects in the facility, the human workforce.
TRAINING DESIGNED FOR TYPES OF POSITIONS:
This course is aimed at management through to the most junior
employee of the organisation.
COURSE RECOGNITION:
This course carries national recognition.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF TRAINING:
At the completion of the course candidates would have knowledge
of;
- The requirements for a fire to exist, The methods of extinguishment
- Steps to take in the event of a fire, Types of fire extinguishers
and their uses,
- Methods of operation of fire extinguishers Use of fire
reels
- Emergency calls and the information required to be given
during an emergency call.
Other information as required by the client.
METHODS OF DELIVERY:
The methods of delivery will include;
- Face to face tutorials and discussion,
- Audio visual,
- Theoretical situation discussion.
- Practical hands on with fire extinguishers exercises to
round off the course.
WHAT LEARNING MATERIALS DO PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE:
All participants receive a full training manual covering the
subjects treated in the training program.
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES DO PARTICIPANTS HAVE FOR PRACTICAL APPLICATION
OF NEW SKILLS:
The first part of the course is delivered in a classroom type
situation and the group goes into the field and puts the theory
into practice in their own workplaces doing set scenarios with
fire extinguishers, fire blankets and fire hoses as required
to evaluate performance.
WHAT FEEDBACK DO PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE:
At the completion of theory modules a questionnaire is completed
to ensure participant understanding of the theory module.
Practical situations are debriefed at the completion of each
exercise.
HOW IS TERMINAL BEHAVIOUR MEASURED:
Assessment criteria will be by;
- Written questionnaire (where literacy skills are a problem
this is carried out in a one on one informal question and
answer situation),
- Practical exercises,
- Hands on using fire extinguishing agents,
- Group discussion, and
- Other assessment methodology.
All of the above will be as required to determine participants
terminal behaviour.
WHAT FOLLOW UP AND ONGOING SUPPORT IS PROVIDED:
All participants and their employers are provided with contacts
within Quantum Training so that if a problem arises they can
contact us for advice and/or guidance.
DURATION OF TRAINING COURSE:
The course can be from 2 hours to one day depending on the
requirements of the client and the need for candidates to have
practical hands on experience with fire blankets, extinguishers
and fire hose reels.
FEE STRUCTURE:
Course costs are variable as is the course. Costs are discussed
as the course requirements are developed. Preferred course
size is 10 to 12 candidates.
Our standard fee of $150.00 per day for travel and accommodation apply to all
courses. This fee is reduced to $100.00 where the client supplies power and
water to connect to.
If fire extinguishing is taught as a practical component of this course there
is an extra charge for fire extinguisher recharging.
