Retraining
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
To enable workers to work confidently and competently in the
trenching work environment.
To enable supervisors to feel confident in the level of knowledge
of the personnel entering and working in trenches.
TRAINING DESIGNED FOR TYPES OF POSITIONS:
This course is aimed at all workers from labourers to engineers
who are involved in trench rescue situations
COURSE ACCREDITATION:
This training program is a nationally registered program.
Units of competency for this training will consist of a combination of any
of the 7 units listed below. Generally 1 unit of competency is targeted in
a retraining day.

BCC03 Certificate III in Civil Construction training package, including:

EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF TRAINING:
At the completion of the course candidates would have knowledge
of;
Trench work which may include;
- Conditions causing a need to install trench support,
- Special needs for trench rescue,
- Emergency communications,
- Use of machinery,
- Emergency Shoring, etc.
METHODS OF DELIVERY:
The methods of delivery will include;
- Face to face tutorials and discussion,
- Theoretical situation discussion.
- Practical work includes creation and support of excavations
in the strata types found in the participant’s work
area.
WHAT LEARNING MATERIALS DO PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE:
All participants receive a full training manual covering the
subjects treated in the training program.
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES DO PARTICIPANTS HAVE FOR PRACTICAL APPLICATION
OF NEW SKILLS:
The course is delivered in a classroom type situation for
the first 4 to 5 hours. The remaining 3 to 4 hours are the
practical component looking at trenching situations.
WHAT FEEDBACK DO PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE:
At the completion of theory modules a questionnaire is completed
to ensure participant understanding of the theory module.
Practical situations are debriefed at the completion of each
exercise.
HOW IS TERMINAL BEHAVIOUR MEASURED:
Assessment criteria will be by;
- Written questionnaire (where literacy skills are a problem
this is carried out in a one on one informal question and
answer situation),
- Workshops amongst the participants.
- Group discussion,
- Practical exercises and
- Other assessment methodology.
All of the above will be as required to determine participants
terminal behaviour.
WHAT FOLLOW UP AND ONGOING SUPPORT IS PROVIDED:
All participants and their employers are provided with contacts
within Quantum Training so that if a problem arises they can
contact us for advice and/or guidance.
DURATION OF TRAINING COURSE:
8 hours for the course.
FEE STRUCTURE:
Course costs are $1950.00 (GST not applicable) per day of
the course. Preferred maximum number for the course is 12 participants.
The above quoted fee is for a minimum of 10 candidates.
Our standard fee of $150.00 per day for travel and accommodation
apply to all courses. This fee is reduced to $100.00 where
the client supplies power and water to connect to.
Clients are requested to supply materials for practical component
of the training course. A list of those requirements are forwarded
when the course is being finalised.
