COURSE OBJECTIVE:

To enable workers to work confidently and competently develop and lead their own OH&S committee at their workplace.

To enable supervisors to feel confident in the level of knowledge of the personnel involved in the OH&S committee at their workplace.

TRAINING DESIGNED FOR TYPES OF POSITIONS:

This course is aimed at all personnel who may be involved in the development and operation of their works OH&S committee.

COURSE REGISTRATION:

Quantum Training is VETAB registered to provide national qualification for the course mentioned below:

  • Course registration is 30630QLD Course in Functioning as a Workplace Health and Safety Representative.


EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF TRAINING:

At the completion of the course candidates would have knowledge of;

  • Legislative and other requirements, Committee make up,
  • Committee powers Constitution,
  • Holding proper meetings, Reporting to management,
  • Managements’ role, Unions’ role,
  • Rights of workers to access to committee, etc.

Each of these areas can be broken down even further but would relate to much reading.


METHODS OF DELIVERY:

The methods of delivery will include;

  • Face to face tutorials and discussion, Workshops,
  • Audio Visual. Practical situation discussion,
  • Theoretical situation discussion. Conflict as a learning tool,
  • Practical OH&S Committee operations.


WHAT LEARNING MATERIALS DO PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE:

A complete training program given out to each participant during this course.


WHAT OPPORTUNITIES DO PARTICIPANTS HAVE FOR PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF NEW SKILLS:

The course is delivered in a classroom type situation for the major part. The remaining period is the practical component.


WHAT FEEDBACK DO PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE:

At the completion of theory modules a questionnaire is completed to ensure participant understanding of the theory module.

Practical situations are debriefed at the completion of each exercise. 


HOW IS TERMINAL BEHAVIOUR MEASURED:

Assessment criteria will be by;

  • Written questionnaire (where literacy skills are a problem this is carried out in a one on one informal question and answer situation),
  • Practical exercises,
  • Workshops amongst the participants.
  • Group discussion, and
  • Other assessment methodology.

All of the above will be as required to determine participants terminal behaviour.


WHAT FOLLOW UP AND ONGOING SUPPORT IS PROVIDED:

All participants and their employers are provided with contacts within Quantum Training so that if a problem arises they can contact us for advice and/or guidance.


DURATION OF TRAINING COURSE:

In NSW the WorkCover approved course is 4 days duration.

In QLD this course is 3 days in duration.


FEE STRUCTURE:

Course costs are $1950.00 (GST not applicable) per day of the course. Preferred maximum number for the course is 12 participants.

Our standard fee of $150.00 per day for travel and accommodation apply to all courses. This fee is reduced to $100.00 where the client supplies power and water to connect to.
